Andres Felipe Troncoso
I take cues from painting, literature, and visual traditions, not as references, but as working tools. My projects test those influences through form, material, and systems, proposing new futures for the built environment.

Shaping LightPortman Prize Studio 2025
Georgia Institute of Technology, M.Arch
Instructor: Thomas Phifer, Katherine Wright
In the middle of the field, between tall blades of grass, the wind carries the sound of a bell, drawing tired pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago toward rest. Limestone walls slip and rotate to catch and shape the light, guiding them through what becomes their home for the next month. A simple, almost monastic daily cycle is marked not by clocks, but by the movement of light, the toll of the bell, and the shared rituals of meals—binding time to light, sound, and taste.

Instructor: Lars Spuybroek
Life: A User’s Manual by Georges Perec shows how architecture’s gameboard can become a storyboard, turning rooms, stairs, and apartments into fragmented, open-ended narratives. This project reverses that move: Perec’s broken chapters are translated back into an architecture that tests fragmentation and randomization as spatial narrative tools. alongside Susanna Clarke’s Piranesi, it asks how inhabitants invent mythologies to appropriate and explore an endless architectural maze.

Vertical Apertures
Core 1 Studio
Georgia Institute of Technology, M.Arch
Instructor: David Yocum
This design envisions a revitalization of South Downtown Atlanta, creating a vibrant community that attracts families to the area. Central to the concept are vertical apertures that penetrate the structure, infusing natural light into circulation areas and communal hubs, fostering a sense of connectivity between the apartments and the city.

The EateryConstruction Tech
Georgia Institute of Technology, M.Arch
Instructor: Charles Rudolph
The pavillion sits at the heart of campus, it responds to the adjacent bustling food truck area where students gather daily.
The Eatery utilizes wood joinery to limit the use of steel to the foundation. Each wooden element miters and interlocks to showcase the simplicity of the joinery, eliminating the need for metal brackets altogether.

Liminality Through Reflection
Georgia Institute of Technology, B.S.Arch
Instructor: Fred Pearsal
After exploring the physical properties of light and shadow of the three sites when untouched, the solar path became a driver through which I define liminality as a transition between states where one does not overcome the other. This transition finds a reciprocity where the outcome becomes a reflection of both states at once. This then translates into the architecture and phenomena that use reflection as the motivation for the experience on each site.

Funnel Courtyard
Georgia Institute of Technology, B.S.Arch
Instructor: Jude LeBlanc
Developed as a public connection, an intersection between the Atlanta belt line and Ponce de Leon. through the use of steel a modern day park lays on the grounds of a historic site.
The lower room acts a pocket that connects the Atlanta beltline above with the street level below. The connection is emphasized by the courtyard surrounding the space.

Eat, Drink, Share Stories
Georgia Institute of Technology, B.S.Arch
Instructor: Jude LeBlanc
The project responds to partnership of Cafe Reconcile and The Moth, creating a community hub that includes a theater, restaurants, offices, and teaching spaces. The farm to table approach is emphasized by putting the vertical farming component at the forefront of the building.

Cross-Fit TheaterGeorgia Institute of Technology, B.S.Arch
Instructor: Fred Pearsall
The gymnasium is developed as an extension of CrossFit that draws on the architectural roots of athleticism as an act of theater. Performers, audience, and the greater context of Auburn Ave interact through a series of balconies overlooking the workout stage, while light baffles pull light down into the exercise areas. Large ramps establish a circulatory connection to the adjacent sidewalk. At the same time, the historical and natural context of the site orders this body-building theater through systems of wind and water, allowing the rear outdoor space to connect back to the deep-rooted history of Auburn Ave.

[ WORK IN PROGRESS ]
Immortal SpaceDesign & Research Studio II
Georgia Institute of Technology, M.Arch
Instructor: Michael Murphy
“Architecture has long flirted with the idea—perhaps the illusion—of immortality. What we build is meant to outlast us, shaping the cities we inherit, the memories we carry, and the stories we pass forward. History is written not only in words, but in buildings, monuments, landscapes, and place names where life unfolds. To design architecture is, in some small but meaningful way, to author the unconscious conditions under which future lives are lived.”
